If you're somewhat technically savvy and don't want to wait for someone to come along to help your business accept GBD, you can do it yourself by following these simple steps.
Create an account for your Business
In order to accept GBD you will need an account. Download the Encointer app on your personal mobile device or on your business' mobile device and create an account. Make sure to select the Green Bay Dollar community in the app and back up your account.
Generate a QR Code for your customers to scan
If you have a mobile device for your business, you can simply tap the "Receive" button on the home page of the Encointer app to display a QR code for your customers to scan - you can even input an invoice amount so the QR code prepares the right amount of GBD for your customers to send.
If you'd like to print out a QR code to tape to your checkout counter, you can go to this website to generate one. The Encointer app uses 6 lines of simple text to generate a QR code invoice:
- encointer-invoice
- v1.0
- <address>
- <GBD asset id: dpcmj33LUs9>
- <invoice amount - include blank line for no invoice amount>
- <label>
See the image for an example of how to format these lines of text. If you're in doubt, try scanning the QR code with your app to see if it does what you expect. Once your QR code is working, download it and print it out to display at your checkout. If you run into trouble don't hesitate to reach out!
Let people know!
Once you've set up an account and have created a way to let your customers scan your business' GBD QR code, you're ready to let everyone know. Print out some posters and put them up on your door and checkout area. Navigate to the brand assets page to use GBD branding material in whatever way you please.
